Six horror games that work on PC in 2026
Six picks from the GameSpot horror shelf, filtered for PC availability, co-op options and current patch state.

GameSpot's horror shelf holds thirty titles. Six of them make sense on a PC in 2026 for reasons beyond scares: active patches, working co-op, or prices that have settled into bargain territory.
Alan Wake 2
Remedy's survival horror runs on the Northlight engine and rewards a strong GPU, but it is the writing that keeps it on lists two years after release. The New Game Plus loop adds manuscript pages that recontextualize the story.
Silent Hill 2 Remake
The 2024 remake held up through its patches, and the PC version's early shader-comp stutter is largely gone. Combat is heavier than the original by design; the fog does the rest.
Dead Space (2023)
The remake set the bar for how to rebuild a survival horror classic: one continuous shot, reworked zero-g sections, and an imperative that responds to Isaac's voice. It dips below $20 in most sales now.
Phasmophobia
The co-op ghost-hunting pick. Console versions arrived in 2025 and the game is still getting content updates, so the lobby problem that plagued it at launch has mostly resolved.
The Outlast Trials
Outlast as a co-op experiment, which sounds wrong and plays better than it sounds. Groups of four run trials while the game escalates in ways solo play never shows.
Lethal Company
The cheapest entry here and still the funniest. Proximity voice chat does most of the work; the horror comes from your friends' decision-making. Updates have been steady since the 2023 breakout.
